Tamil new year 2015

tamil new year

Today we celebrated our Tamil new year. In our home, the celebrations are similar to Malayali’s Vishu kani kaanal. The previous night, my mother would arrange all fruits, flowers, mirror, jewels, coins and beetel leaves in our pooja room. On the new year day, Amma would wake us and take us to the pooja room, blindfolding us. And this arrangement would be the first thing we would see on the new year day.

After coming to US, I really love to celebrate all the festivals the traditional way, so that my kid does not forget our tradition. So for this new year , I made pal kova last night and arranged all the fruits, mirror and other things with sweet in the pooja shelf. Then in the morning I made the masal vadai and payasam and we worshipped.

I wish you all a very happy and a prosperous new year.. !! May god bless you all with health and happiness.
